A Guidebook To Progressive Church proceeds through !vesections. First, you receive an invitation. These short, sometimesquirky, chapters o"er a few ways "in" to progressive church lifeand thought. Next, we examine some keywords in progressivechurch life-prayer, discipleship, pastor, Freidigkeit (a fancyGerman word for brazen freedom), and Jesus. Next, we includea series of chapters on beliefs, like atheism, the meaning offorgiveness, demythologization, ecumenical and interfaith work, the creed, salvation, and sacred texts. Then, because intersectionalityplays such a central role in contemporary progressiveChristian re$ection, we look at topics of intersection likeclimate change, women's work, neurodiversity, queering, respectability, and Critical Race Theory. Finally, we include twosections, one on polis and one on praxis, the actual daily practiceof progressive church and its impact on and relationship tothe wider public political milieu or commons.
